Editing Posts

Learn how to edit existing draft posts to make changes before publishing.

Overview

You can edit draft posts to make changes to your content, update platforms, or modify any aspect of the post before publishing. Once a post is published, it cannot be edited, so make sure to review your drafts carefully.

How to Access the Edit Page

There are two ways to edit a draft post:

From the All Posts Page

  1. Go to "Posts" in the dashboard navigation
  2. Find the draft post you want to edit (it will have a "Draft" status badge)
  3. Click on the post card or click the "Edit" button
  4. You'll be taken to the edit page

From the Post View Page

  1. Click on a draft post to view its details
  2. In the actions section, click the "Edit Post" button
  3. You'll be taken to the edit page

What Can Be Edited

When editing a draft post, you can modify:

  • Content Fields: All template fields like text, quotes, titles, images, etc.
  • Template: The template is locked once selected, but you can change all content within it
  • Platforms: Add or remove platforms, change board selections, update Pinterest titles/descriptions
  • Preview: The preview updates automatically as you make changes

Note: Only draft posts can be edited. Published and scheduled posts cannot be modified. If you need to change a published post, you'll need to create a new one.

Editing Process

Step 1: Review Current Content

When you open the edit page, all your current content will be pre-filled in the form fields. The preview will show the current state of your post.

Step 2: Make Your Changes

Modify any fields you want to change. You can update text content, change platform selections, update Pinterest board choices, or modify any other aspect of the post. The preview will update in real-time as you make changes.

Step 3: Regenerate Preview (if needed)

If you make significant changes, the preview may need to regenerate. This happens automatically, but you may see a brief "Generating preview..." message while the new preview is being created.

Step 4: Save Your Changes

Once you're satisfied with your changes, click "Save Changes" in the preview sidebar. Your draft will be updated with the new content. You can continue editing or publish it when ready.

Editing Platform Selections

You can modify which platforms a post will be published to:

  • Check or uncheck platform accounts to add or remove them
  • For Pinterest, you can change the board selection or create a new board
  • Update Pinterest-specific fields like title, description, and link
  • Changes to platforms will be reflected when you save

Tips for Editing Posts

  • Review the preview carefully before saving to ensure everything looks correct
  • Make sure all required fields are filled in (especially for Pinterest posts)
  • Check that the correct platforms are selected
  • Wait for the preview to fully generate before saving
  • You can save changes multiple times as you refine your post
  • Consider saving a copy as a new draft if you want to keep the original version
